Frequently Asked Questions
What grade levels does Forest Lake Education Center serve?
Forest Lake Education Center (FLEC) serves students from PreK through 8th grade. Our program is designed to provide a continuous, faith-based academic foundation from early childhood through middle school, preparing students for high school and beyond in the Longwood, Apopka, and Altamonte Springs areas of Central Florida.
Where is FLEC located and which Central Florida communities do you serve?
FLEC is located in Longwood, Florida, serving families throughout Seminole and Orange Counties — including Longwood, Apopka, Altamonte Springs, Lake Mary, Maitland, Winter Park, Sanford, Casselberry, Wekiva Springs, and Forest City. Our central location makes us an accessible choice for families across the greater Orlando metro area looking for a private Christian school option.
What is included in tuition?
Tuition at FLEC covers core academic instruction, classroom resources, daily Bible curriculum, specials (such as art, music, and physical education where applicable), and the support of our certified teaching staff. Registration fees, supply fees, and any optional extracurricular programs are billed separately. Refer to our Complete Fee Schedule above for a full breakdown.
When is tuition due each month?
Monthly tuition is due on the last day of each month. Registration and supply fees are due by July 31, the school year begins in August, and the final tuition payment of the year is due in May. We recommend enrolling in automatic monthly payments to avoid late fees.
Do you offer a multi-student discount?
Yes. FLEC offers a multi-student tuition discount for families enrolling more than one child. We believe Christian education should be accessible to whole families, and the sibling discount is automatically applied at registration. See the Multi-Student Discount section above for current rates.
Does FLEC accept Florida school choice scholarships like Step Up For Students?
Yes. FLEC participates in Florida's school choice scholarship programs, including Step Up For Students (FES-EO, FES-UA, and FTC scholarships). These state-funded scholarships can cover all or a significant portion of tuition for eligible Florida families. We encourage all families — regardless of income — to apply, as eligibility has expanded under Florida's universal school choice law. Contact our admissions office for guidance through the application process.
What payment methods does FLEC accept?
FLEC accepts ACH/bank draft, credit and debit cards, and check payments through our secure online tuition management system. Automatic monthly drafts are encouraged to ensure on-time payment and to avoid late fees.
Is there an application or registration fee?
Yes. An annual registration fee and a per-student supply fee are required at the time of enrollment and are due by July 31. These fees secure your child's seat for the upcoming school year and are non-refundable. Exact amounts are listed in the Complete Fee Schedule above.
What happens if a tuition payment is late?
Tuition payments not received by the last day of the month are considered late and may be subject to a late fee. Families experiencing financial hardship should contact the FLEC business office before the due date — we are committed to working with families whenever possible to keep students enrolled and learning.
Are extracurricular activities, or aftercare included in tuition?
No. Aftercare, athletics, field trips, and optional extracurricular activities are billed separately from tuition. This keeps base tuition affordable and allows families to choose only the programs that fit their needs and schedule.
What is the refund policy if my child withdraws during the school year?
Registration and supply fees are non-refundable. Tuition is billed monthly, so families who withdraw mid-year are responsible only for the month in which the student is enrolled. Withdrawal must be submitted in writing to the FLEC administrative office. Specific terms are detailed in the enrollment agreement signed at registration.
Does FLEC offer financial aid beyond state scholarships?
FLEC partners with Florida's state-funded scholarship programs as the primary path to affordability, and we also offer a multi-student discount for families with more than one child enrolled. Families with additional financial questions are encouraged to contact our admissions office directly to discuss options.
When does the FLEC school year start and end?
The FLEC school year begins in August and ends in May, following a traditional academic calendar with breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring. The full academic calendar is available on our website each summer prior to the start of the new school year.
How do I enroll my child at FLEC?
Enrollment is a simple four-step process:
- Schedule a campus tour with our admissions team.
- Submit an application along with required student records.
- Complete the enrollment agreement and pay registration and supply fees.
- Apply for Florida school choice scholarships if desired — our admissions office can assist.
Families in Longwood, Apopka, Altamonte Springs, and surrounding Central Florida communities are welcome to contact us anytime to begin the process.
